Question about the higher level armor - Guild Wars Forums

Been playing this game for quite some time and have 2 ascended characters roaming around the Droknars region. Now I am very confused about the higher level (and very expensive) armor that is available, and wondering if any very experienced players can help me.

First question: what are the advantages of 15K armor over 1.5K armor? As far as I can see, the stats are the same (armor class, energy gains, etc.). I know they look a bit differently, but is the appearance the only difference? What about this FOW armor I hear people talking about? That's even more expensive (materials). Can someone explain what the difference is between the FOW armor and the 15K or 1.5K armor?

Second question: For my Mesmer, I see that the internet lists about 8 different styles of armor. But only 4 styles for 15K can be found in the region around Droknars. Does that mean the other styles are not available in this "luxury" 15K mode? What about "viruoso" armor, which I cannot find anywhere. It seems to be only available as armor class 60. Where can this be purchased?

Third question: About dying armor, like the rangers and mesmers. Does the original background color of the armor make a difference to the result? Or does the dye that one applies "cover everything" so to speak?

And the last question: anyone got a link to a site that shows examples of the various armor styles? I haven't been able to locate a site yet.

To my knowledge the only difference between the 15k armor and Droks, is how it looks! Some of it looks pretty cool. Also, Have you made it to Granit Citadel? There is 15k armor there as well and you may find the other 4 styles of armor for your Mesmer there. As for FoW armor, it goes back to the "looks cool" catagory. There is no real advantage to having it. AS for your dyes question, I think the background color does affect it some and on some armor the dye does not cover everything, in most cases it only highlights part of the armor in that particular color.

As for pictures of armor, there are some other forums that have screenshots of some. What are you looking for and I will see if I can find it! Or you can check out the forums Here and go to the "Crafting" board and see what you can find!

Thanks UberTaz. I been to the two cities/outposts near Droknars that have the 15K armor, and each offers 2 styles for the female mesmer. So that makes only 4 styles of 15K armor. Maybe I need to wait for the expansion? ;-)
